Simple curtain designs are set to be prevalent in 2011, according to a new book.
The expert committee of the international trend board at IMM Cologne has released its Interior Trends 2011 book which forecasts the latest styles to be used in homes across the country.
The Independent newspaper obtained a copy of the text and identified four main design trends, including the emergence of simplified styles as a result of the current economic climate.
"This is leading to the emergence of simplistic, formal or severe designs that combine the basic and old with the modern and the high-tech," the news provider said.
IMM Cologne predicts that Britons are set to shun mass marketed goods and instead opt for unique items which can help turn a house into a home.
Those looking to embrace this emerging trend should consider introducing simple "angular structures" and "soft natural materials" such as wool.
